My name is Tony Bravo, the protagonist in “Dead Is Not Enough,” Burt Golden’s next novel. A P.I. in the afternoon and a Realtor in the morning, I decide what is right and what is wrong and I don’t like to explain it to anybody. I like women, but I’m a little afraid of them. I’m not going to make a commitment because if you make a commitment to a woman they can hurt you. Although I have a biting sense of humor and a wry wit, I will kill you if you pick a fight with me.
Like a good P.I. in a noir, black and white movie, I don’t disappoint in this mystery, the second novel of the series, staring me. In this fast pace, character driven work, I reluctantly take two P.I. cases. The first, a serial murder case that eventually exposes an unlikely killer. The second, a murder triangle where I find myself in the wrong place at the right time. All this while trying to protect my fourteen year-old daughter, the most important person in my life.
If you like the works of Elmore Leonard, Raymond Chandler and Lawrence Block, you will also like “Dead Is Not Enough.” If you don’t, Burt will kill me off.
